Tropicalia Four Seasons Resort

Tropicalia is a luxury resort development along the southern coast of Samaná Bay, Dominican Republic, with an emphasis on harmony with nature. Tropicalia will be a world-renowned emblem of sustainable luxury tourism, anchored by an Isay Weinfeld-designed Four Seasons hotel and Tom Doak 18-hole golf course with branded residences throughout. Given the site’s proximity to the coast and low-lying topography, Sherwood Design Engineers developed an innovative water management site design that will reduce the threat of inland flooding, sea level rise, and 100-year storm wave runup. Sherwood prepared construction documents for the project including grading, drainage, circulation, and utility plans.
