Project Update: Opening at New Orleans Musuem of Arts Garden Expansion

by Jim Remlin | May 15, 2019

Led by Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architects, Sherwood Design Engineers provided full site civil engineering for the NOMA Sculpture Garden Expansion project. Our team helped to locate and implement green infrastructure aimed at improving water quality, provided weir wall design support to help regulate stormwater flows, integrated site stormwater collection and conveyance into a highly visible landscape and engineered drainage support of a one of a kind canal bridge that drops into the lagoon. In addition to these design elements, Sherwood managed the process of coordinating and securing project permits from the City, State and Army Corps of Engineers.  Ultimately, through Sherwood’s close interaction and collaboration with the design team, Reed Hilderbrand, Lee Ledbetter & Associates, and Palmisano, the challenges of the site were able to be positioned and transformed into opportunities that resulted in a world class garden that is aligned for resilience in New Orleans.
It is now open and free to the public!

Key site components of project include:

Bioswales, Weir Wall Design, Canal Bridge Drainage Design Support, Curb Cuts
