Rancho Encantado Four Seasons

Rancho Encantado is an Four Season Hotel (previously Auberge Resort) which, as suggested by the name, celebrates the enchanting landscape of Northern New Mexico. The 56-acre resort lies in the arid foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and borders the Santa Fe National Forest. In support of the environmental focus of the resort, our firm explored the potential for several water reuse scenarios at the site. We designed a rainwater harvesting and wastewater treatment and reuse system to provide the maximum supply of water to the hotel residences, spa, and guest facilities through recycling, storage, and on-site processing. Sherwood’s schematic layout for site improvements–including roads, parking, paths, roofs, and softscape areas–as well as materials selection for roads and paths, supported the resort’s drainage plan, sustainable goals, and aesthetic sensitivity to the landscape.
