Presidio Trust: Washington Loop

Presidio Park’s 1,480-acres include over 500 historic buildings, a national cemetery, a saltwater marsh, beaches, unique native plant habitats and coastal bluffs. Soon after the park was created, Sherwood worked to make this historic parkland more accessible. At Washington Loop, we improved the circulation of the site by designing and overseeing construction of new roads, parking, and pedestrian pathways; and expanding the hiking and biking network through the beautiful coastal forest. Our engineers emphasized low-impact development in their designs, and gave special consideration to stormwater management issues. These improvements were a critical step in integrating this large-scale sustainable park into the urban fabric of San Francisco.
