Mill District Development

Sherwood provided site assessment, master planning, and concept design services for redevelopment of an old lumber mill site in the heart of Healdsburg, California. With a focus on sustainable infrastructure, Sherwood helped the developer and design team create a program that included a new hotel, housing, retail, circulation, and outdoor areas on the 10 acre site. Strategies explored include pedestrian friendly streets, low impact development to manage stormwater, capture and reuse of rainwater, and grading and land forming that minimizes earthwork and protects an existing redwood grove that anchors the site to the regional ecology.
