UCB Strawberry Creek

Sherwood has been involved in the naturalization and restoration and of Strawberry Creek ecosystem over the past decade. Our team designed campus-integrated water management and flow reestablishment for over a mile of flow pathways at the heart of the University of California at Berkeley campus. The work involved the restoration of stream banks and retaining wall removal as well as reconstruction of the stream bed downstream of existing rock check dams, in order to enhance this historic campus creek. Additionally, as part of the redevelopment of UC Berkeley Main Quad and related building projects, Sherwood expanded the restoration zone into the campus creating connectivity to Strawberry Creek by implementing new wetlands and waterways for water conveyance, treatment, and filtration. In addition, we developed complementary rainwater harvesting and water reuse systems for the plazas and buildings to create an integrated and holistic water management system.
