Oakland Museum of California

Sherwood Design Engineers worked closely with Hood Design Studios to design grading, drainage, and accessibility improvements to the eastern portion of the OMCA site. Improvements included removal of existing site walls to open up the northeast corner of the site to create a new entrance at the 12th street/Lake Merritt side of the museum. Improved outdoor gathering spaces were modernized to meet the current needs of the museum and upgrade to meet current code requirements. Sherwood developed strategies through schematic design, design development, and construction documents that met the goals of the museum and design team within the cost constraints of the project.

The team preformed an extensive survey review of the site to ensure that the design being developed fully met the clients needs.
