Sherwood led the efforts on the FEMA HMGP funded resilience plan for Horry County to prepare against future storm-driven flood events. These strategies aimed to reduce flood risks and vulnerabilities along the Waccamaw and Pee Dee Rivers and the Intracoastal Waterway in Horry County.
- The Horry County Flood Resilience Plan includes:
- Long term strategies on flood prevention and mitigation
- Recommendations on buy-out prioritization
- Reuse strategies for buy-out properties
- An analysis of the Florence flood to compare base flood elevation against FEMA established base flood elevation to provide platform for policy revisions to enable more resilient development typologies
- Design of development typologies to provide resilience development strategies in areas that might be vulnerable to future flood
