Zachary Alva

Design Engineer

Zach studied environmental engineering at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt), focusing on water resources (hydrology, groundwater hydrology, and channel hydraulics). Since graduating in 2021, Zach worked both as an analyst for an engineering consulting firm and as an assistant coach for a local youth kayak sprint team. He has experience assisting throughput, cost, and property layout analyses for marine cargo facilities. Zach is excited to combine the critical thinking skills learned from his engineering background with the interpersonal skills he has learned as a coach in his role as a Design Engineer.

Fun Facts: Zach grew up in Sonoma County and is excited to get the opportunity to work locally. He is an avid flatwater kayak racer who has represented Petaluma at multiple national championships and the United States at 4 international regattas. Zach enjoys playing the piano when not working or training.
