About this Project
For one of the largest redevelopment projects on the campus, Sherwood joined as Civil Engineer with a high-powered design team to re-envision the main entrance and social corridor to UC Berkeley. In addition to the redesign of Lower Sproul Plaza, the project included complete redesign and replacement of the existing Eshleman Hall, renovation of Martin Luther King Student Union Center, and Chavez Student Center. To build upon the progress made during the master-planning phase, Sherwood developed grading plans, utility infrastructure, rainwater harvesting, water reuse and stormwater treatment and infiltration strategies. These innovative civil engineering documents strive to exceed the sustainability, programming, and social goals established during multiple visioning meetings between the design team and the University.
