Southampton Island Resort

Location: Bermuda, Carribean

Sherwood Design Engineers helped revitalize the tourism market in Bermuda through comprehensive green design on the most significant resort community the island has seen in decades. The community, located on the island’s breathtaking south coast, replaces the existing Wyndam Resort. Employing cutting-edge best practices in sustainable design, construction, and operation, the hotel will consume less energy and water per square foot than any other hotel on the island. Sherwood’s involvement was integrated in all aspects of sustainability including recycling demolition materials, optimizing site layout, transitioning to natural heating and cooling systems, determining viability of solar and wind power generation, carbon balancing, ecological restoration, and LEED documentation services. By closely coordinating with the other design and client team members from architects, MEPs and geologists, to marketing, operations and financing, our team ensured that sustainability was a core component of every aspect of the project.
