About this Project

Orton Development, in conjunction with the Port of San Francisco are developing the 20th Street historical buildings within Pier 70 in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. Historically, this site was one of the main shipbuilding centers on the west coast, and was home to the Union Iron Works headquarters along with Bethlehem Steel. Today Pier 70 rundown and overlooked. Restoration and redevelopment of these buildings re-imagines the most intact industrial complex west of the Mississippi, into a vibrant part of the waterfront, which will provide opportunities for office, commercial, manufacturing, and artist space. Sherwood is leading the civil design, re-imagining urban rainwater conveyance systems. Bringing innovative solutions that incorporate functional visual ecology and increase place-making opportunities, while also reducing the amount of rainwater flowing into the already inundated storm sewer system is a huge benefit to the project.
