Project: Indonesian Island

Indonesian Island

Location: Gerupuk, Indonesia

Working with a high-profile developer on the coast of Indonesia in the Gerupuk Region, Sherwood developed a sustainable development opportunities report outlining the key environmental, economic, and social issues surrounding the development of a sensitive part of the Indonesian island. Traditionally an unsustainable agriculture has dominated the area, so little had been done to safeguard the environmental resources of the site. Given the fragile population and environment, Sherwood outlined a comprehensive set of opportunities to balance the needs of the land and the people including: habitat identification and restoration, water management and erosion control for sustainable and productive agriculture and; smart design techniques for passive energy conservation.
