Project: Tangjiawan University

Tangjiawan University

Location: Zhuhai, China

Sherwood worked closely with Gensler’s Hong Kong and San Francisco offices to create a sustainable and expanded education-based masterplan along the banks of Jinxing Bay. This expansive masterplan, encompassing four university campus expansions, creates the potential to develop Zhuhai into a world-class waterfront city, with education, commercial, technology, and residential hubs to serve the rapidly expanding population of this “Garden City.”

With a strong focus on watershed management, resiliency of the waterfront, and promotion of eco-district strategies, Sherwood provided a comprehensive watershed analysis and infrastructure plans for domestic water, recycled water, and sanitary sewer. At key opportunity locations, we provided master planning for natural subsurface wastewater treatment wetlands, reclaimed water reservoirs and decentralized stormwater quality and quantity regulation. To help combat sea level rise at the waterfront edge, Sherwood proposed natural tidal wetland buffer areas to provide bank stabilization, unique biology and resiliency for future development.
