A few of us in the office recently had the opportunity to volunteer at the Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) Center at Heron’s Head Park in San Francisco’s Bay View. Formerly known as Pier 98, the park is is a 23-acre restored wetland owned by the Port of San Francisco and located at the base of the former PG&E Hunters Point Power Plant

The Center hosts events for all ages to educate the community on wetlands ecology and environmental issues with urban communities around the Bay Area. We were also given a tour of their new EcoCenter that is now San Francisco’s first 100% off-grid building. It was a really fun, hands-on educational experience and a great way to learn more about green building and wetlands. Not to mention a great way to just spend a day out of the office and enjoy the bay!
